Our dedicated parrot area features a selection of aviaries and large cages, and enrichment toys, along with a play zone allowing parrots supervised time outside their cages. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art Eco climate control systems to ensure optimal air quality and a consistent, comfortable temperature.
To support your parrot’s comfort, we encourage bringing familiar toys and arranging their space to emulate their home environment.
Feeding
We provide birds with premium seed blends fortified with vitamins, alongside a constant supply of fresh water and an array of thoroughly washed fruits and vegetables. Should you wish, we will use your supplied feed and accessories to minimize stress for your pet, and adheres to individualized routines to ensure ongoing engagement
Health Considerations and Risks
Boarding facilities pose certain health risks, mainly due to close contact with other birds. Despite medical advances, some avian diseases remain incurable. To protect all guests, we require full disclosure about your bird's health; we cannot accept birds that have been unwell or exposed to illness. All pet birds must be healthy when admitted. Birds are boarded at the owner's risk; while our trained staff take great care, we do not assume liability for illness, injury, or death. We reserve the right to deny entry to any bird displaying signs of illness or poor condition.
Owners should inform us of any recent injuries, illnesses, or special needs before boarding. Following veterinary advice, our staff can provide prescribed treatments at no extra cost. Hest Bank Avian Retreat offers comprehensive insurance for all resident birds and provides specialized care if needed.
Facilities
Our facilities are specifically designed for avian boarding, with an emphasis on stimulation and social interaction to promote the happiness and well-being of every guest. Cages are available onsite, although small birds—including finches, budgies, canaries, and cockatiels—are only boarded in their own cages. Staff manage feeding, watering, and regular cleaning of cages and toys. Supplemental items such as cuttlefish bone, multivitamin drops, grit, and millet spray, are provided as needed to aid digestion and maintain health.
Health and Hygiene Protocols
We uphold rigorous standards for cleanliness and bird welfare, performing the following tasks daily:
- Sterilization of all food and water bowls using diluted F10 solution
- Daily spot cleaning of cages with diluted F10 solution
- Refreshing cage linings with clean paper daily
- Using sterile Easi-chick bedding on aviary floors
- Spot cleaning toys and perches each day
- Thorough sanitization of cages between guests
- Maintaining constant temperature and air quality through modern environmental controls
